Pension Funds Return To Retail

Rebounding sales and the returns posted by REITs have brought pension fund investment back to retail. Following a two- to three-year period of reluctant involvement with retail real estate, pension funds appear to be returning to the sector in strength. Investment advisers indicate the turnaround began in the second half of 1997 and has been building ever since, with the new year inaugurating an abrupt acceleration of interest.
